There is a tree called the Grandmother Tree that once embraced offerings to people's grandmothers at its base, up in Hatcher Pass. This past summer, the park removed all of them, unfortunately. I vote we replace them with our own and give our appreciation to our grandmothers and the grandmothers we are close to! Leaving our offerings and prayers to the dead at a sacred space is about as Pagan as it gets!
So, write your prayers and thoughts on baseball-sized painted rocks, or bring flowers, special runes, gemstones, or any other Earth-friendly items and come to this graceful, elegant, and withstanding tree to commemorate the grandmothers in our lives who have passed on. Then, afterwards, we'll drive a further couple miles and there's a beautiful a-frame lodge restaurant with a stellar view that we can sit and have drinks and food at, for those not familiar.
The tree is located on a summit directly above a parking lot (which has bathrooms) with a very short (like 100 feet or less) but decently steep trek to get to it. I recommend trekking poles just to help grasp the soil going up. There may be a little snow up in the mountains at this time, maybe not, so I would possibly bring crampons for your boots just in case.
